Wayne R. Smith is an accomplished public servant who has held a range of high-level positions throughout his career. As Chief of Staff at Buena Vista Rancheria since July 2018, he has overseen a variety of important initiatives and helped to drive the organization’s success. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary/Indian Affairs at the Department of the Interior from September 2001 to June 2002, and as Chief Deputy Attorney General/Chief of Staff at the California Dept. of Justice, Office of the Attorney General from January 1991 to January 1999. Throughout his career, Wayne has been known for his leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to public service.
Lashawn Pettit started at Buena Vista Rancheria in 2018. She is the Human Resources Director and Administrative Assistant to council and the chief of staff.
Abdul joined the Buena Vista Tribe in 2019. He has over 11 years of experience in accounting, payroll, budgeting, and grant management with national and international organizations both in the US and abroad. He has a master’s degree in financial management.
Erica has been with the tribe since 2018. She has worked with the Buena Vista Gaming Authority during the building and opening of the casino and now splits her time between the BVGA and the tribal government’s fiscal department. Prior to working for the tribe, Erica worked in legislative affairs in the government sector.
Joined Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians in 2019. She enjoys working with an amazing team. Christina grew up in the City of West Sacramento. Prior to working for the tribe, she was working for Washington Unified School District.
